Craft Page a month

Doesnt time fly , I thought I hadnt done very much crafting this month and am suprised to find that I have completed a ripple blanket. Knitted Bunnies for my family for easter. Made a cat cushion for Owen, and a bag for a birthday present for a friend who I hope doesnt read this before tomorrow as its for her birthday. Here are a few pictures.

For next months crafts now that I am more motivated, I am joining in a knit along with Gtt group on ravelry, where a lovely woman from the USA is writing me a pattern, and sending me pictures so that I can follow what she has done, so I have purchased my baby wool in pale lilac, and I shall be doing a baby shawlette and bonnet.

Looking forward to spending time with the Cake and Create group in Aug/Sept ,but first of all we have to decide on venues, crafting ideas, so that means we need to meet up and discuss what we want to get out of our nights together. I am sure we will be inventive, creative, and have a laugh, so on this note, I will pop over to facebook and suggest a meet up. Nothing beats a good crafting session together.

Happy St Georges Day

Wishing you all a Happy St Georges Day, patron Saint of England.

The St Georges Day flag is a red cross on a white background, it was adopted in the twelfth century by the city of London, to put on their ships entering into the meditteranean, to save them from the genoese sailors, or so I understand having just googled wikipedia, I am not the fount of all knowledge on St George!
St George was said to be a soldier from Syria, who introduced christianity into europe, and became a christain martyr.

I think most people associate St George with the slaying of a Dragon, which is almost certainly a myth, but has fired peoples imagination over the centuries.

A rallying cry, associated with him is cry God for Harry, England and St George, before a battle.

Sunday walk..Burston

We decided to go for a nice walk, Sunday afternoon the perfect time for a stroll. We chose to go to Burston, as it is quiet and pretty. It is a place we discovered when doing the family genealogy and finding that the Stanyer family came from Burston, so glad that we found this lovely place.

This is the fishing pool and Duck pond combined, alongside it run Poolside cottages and a pretty church, not shown , called St Rufins. It was nice to read the visitors book and see that four people had visited the church to find their Burston connections , they came from Australia.

A couple of the Ducks came to feed, as we took some bread with us, when one comes along they tell their friends and we end up with loads of birds to feed.

A canal boat moored up, this is the Trent and Mersey canal, on the right hand side over the hedge and in the field meanders the river Sow that then cuts through Stafford.

This is Burston Villa, or up at Big House as I say it, where the Fourdrinier family lived in the eighteenth centurey, the inventors of a printing press, a portrait of them hangs in the national gallery.

Takenfrom the top of the canal bridge, you climb up from the towpath and over a stile to complete the circular walk back to the car park, by St Rufins church and the pool.

Just because I love springtime and the way everything unpleats in the sunshine, this is a horsechestnut leaf just unfurling, with the flower stem in the centre, Just so pretty. So there we are walk complete, it takes about half an hour , longer if you linger! as i do .

Happy Easter

Wishing everyone a very Happy Easter, if you are on your own or with friends or family. Easter is a time for reflection on the meaning of rebirth and resurrection, after the crucifixion of Christ.Today a lot of people will be attending a Church service. I as usual will listen to Songs of Praise, as I always do, and probably listen to The Archers radio programme where they usually have an easter service on Lakey hill.
For Christians all over the World this is one of the most important days on the Christian Calendar, with Church attendances. For others it is the fun and joy of Easter egg hunts, lots of chocolate, and time off from work for an Easter break. However you spend it may it be a Happy time. I made a decoration for my front room with some forsythia from the garden, easter bunnies, and an Easter basket.

Eggs were delivered to all of the family, to enjoy on Easter morning, of course they may have demolished them as soon as we disappeared.

There was an Easter gift for my grandson Owen who loves cats, and has two cats one called keo the other Sox, and as he loved this printed fabric with all the cats on it, I made him a cushion for his bed, he loved this, so I was pleased.

Of course you cannot give one with out giving to the others in the household, so a pink bunny for Jenny, a blue bunny for martin, a yellow and green bunny for Owen and a duck for Laura.

I intend to have a nice leisurely day today, plenty of tea, a bit of chocolate egg, Tv, a sing along to songs of praise at teatime and the Tv tonight, with bits of crochet or sewing and a natter on the phone, my day is going to be peaceful, just like Easter should be a Happy, Peaceful time.

Bikeride to the Park

Just a few random photos of flowers and trees in bloom on the way to the park with my grandson owen. How lovely after a long winter and this weeks last icy blast of winter with some snow, after last weeks warm temperatures to see the flowers and trees greening up.

Spring blossom on the trees by the river as I walked and owen rode his bike to the park.

The grasses were still, but lovely, underneath springs new carpet of grasses lie waiting to grow.

Nearly at the park, the willows are blooming well this year and have been out for ages, note the unsightly bin!

Here we are at the park, and on the slide enjoying how many ways you can climb up it and get down it.

On the way back and this flowering currant bush was bright with its beautiful pink flowers.

My wonderful adorable grandson poses for Grandma to have his piccy taken though he would rather be off on his bike.

And we are back to my place, this pot of flowers has bloomed every month since it was planted up in september, from heathers to euonymus, grasses, cyclamen, primroses, and now because I underplanted with bulbs a fine show of double daffodills. Time for a cuppa tea, its hard work trying to keep up with a 6 year old.

Colourful conservatory

My Ta Dah moment has arrived, pictures of my new colourful conservatory coming up, sunglasses may be required. Lets start with cushions and throws first of all.

Told you , you would need your sunglasses, this is a new throw and cushion over the old cane furniture.

This is a lovely soft throw over my cane chair, a gift for Mothers Day, from Jenny to me, so doubly nice.

Cushions next and this pretty union Jack type was bought back from our break in Chester.

Jenny and I made cushions for the settee, yes officially she can now operate a sewing machine, and these are so pretty

PROOF, Jenny can sew, well done that girl.

New seat pad cushions atop the chairs underneath my tiny tea table, a bargain from our new Dunelmn  in town.

The conservatory in the daytime, new prints on the wall and wine rack and cd corner

There you are, nearly finished, all thats left is to show you how it looks in the evening light.
Just so very cosy
