LITTLE SCAMP

I had a  welcome visitor to my garden today, a lovely little dog called SCAMP. how nice to feel doggy fur and have someone to fuss over.

I think her name should be Princess, or , she is so well behaved and adorable. As a reminder of the princesses visit with her minders, Martin and Laura, or should i say servants !!!!!!!!!!i add pics  of this cute and lovely little Dog, who will be going back to her owner Recce and her playmate dog Wilf a chocolate brown labrador.Nice to have seen you scamp, come back anytime.

Three things

A coffee with my son in Joxer Bradys

Newly purchased wool
A nice bunch of flowers
Its the little things in life that we often take for granted that make life a positive experience, see if you can find three things every day that have made you happy or thankful for. A sunset, a smile, a good book, doing something for others, making that phone call or sending that text you always meant to send. Each one adds up to a slower and more thoughtful way of life, as we focus in on lifes little things, it makes us appreciate what we would take for granted.
We are here today and who knows about tomorrow, treasure what you have and be thankful for it.

The Peak District

Bakewell River Wye and fish
Add caption
It was good to get away and to enjoy and see as many places in a short space of time.
We had never been to Bakewell in Derbyshire and was suprised to see how pretty the stone work was, more like the cotswold stone we are used to seeing. The Very pretty River Wye runs through Bakewell, the water is so clear you can see the large trout in it, it is a lovely walk up to the Old Stne Bridge.
As usual the foody was on the tracks of the locally made traditional Bakewell Tart and went in two establishments. Bloomers being the most famous for the recipe, where he got his famous pie.
The sun shone on us it was lovely.

                                                                  Matlock Bath

Famous for its Abraham Heights and the cable cars, this was by far the best laugh we had visiting Matlock Bath the mecca of the Peak District for Bikers, lovers of Fish and chip shops, so many!! ice cream parlours, candy floss, it was like the Blackpool of the North, but nearer to home.

                                                                                   Ashbourne

The flags were out to welcome us to Ashbourne, where we stayed, going out at night to a pub, what a long walk that was into the town,  then for a meal at the Stepping Stones, Taggliatele, very nice.
Many pretty shops and places to see, but mainly we used Ashbourne to stay overnight.

Carsington Water

We only stayed for a short while to see Carsington Water which was a huge reservoir with lots of sail boats and birds

Dovedale

Aaaah Beautiful Dovedale, we walked about 3 mile along its hills and the River Dove, we walked across the stepping stones, a bit slippery, but we made it. Then had a picnic, and a sit by the river Dove by the weir. Later we visited a pub the Dog and Partridge that we hadnt been in for 33 years, and it had hardly changed. After this we we set off back home, it was fun, we had a good break away.

Pretty against the sky

I love this dark purple one

car Boot bargain, at 50pence !!!!

Yet another car boot bargain, cuttings will be taken !!
These lovely fuschias are out in flower this evening in our garden. Some i have taken cuttings of already, others newly bought i will take cutting of and give away as gifts. Some i will overwinter and plant out next year.
How to get something beautiful for nothing, take cuttings, the pleasure i get from seeing how much they cost in the shops to the ones i grow at home is enormously pleasurable.

Stepping stones cannock chase walk

Kit off , again, catching the sun, our son

Martin on the lookout whoooooooooowheres laura?
We enjoyed a lovely peaceful walk over the chase to the stepping stones with martin and laura , on their day off on monday. We walked from the punch bowl over through the woodland then turned left for the walk to the stepping stones, a stream with a water splash with stones set into it to walk across, hence the name, obviously. We had a picnic down by the stream.Lots of schoolchildren were pond dipping on a days outing from school.
We had fun , playing catch, golf, handball etc, some of us were more competitive than others, gary and his dad, lauras competitive mind, not me just glad to have a go.
Heading back after a nice few hours out on a summers day, we stopped off for light refreshment at the Barley Mow Pub at Milford. We sat outside in the sun with our drinks, then home.
Happy Days
