March 1st, StDavids Day, the patron Saint of Wales. Many welsh people wear their national symbols on this day the leek and the daffodil.
St David was a monk in the fifth century, his symbols were the leek and the daffodill which bloomed in the same month.
In our own garden a few daffodills are now out in bloom
Pushing through the ground these small mini daffs make a nice showing, and in the picture below, a bud nearly out.
But lets not stop there on the daffodill theme, I even have a cup and saucer and plate with daffodills on.
So to all welsh people everywhere, Happy St Davids Day.
