Springtime in the Park

It was a nice sunny and warm afternoon for this early in spring, being on my own for a long afternoon, I decided to do something with it and went to Town and into the Park to capture the loveliness of Springtime in the park.
The Town Park was opened in 1908, there is a plaque on one of the white bridges commemorating the event. Originally Victoria Park as we know it, was called Victoria Park Pleasure grounds. Here are a few lovely Pictures for you to share with me.

The bedding layout is similar in all town parks following on the trend from Victorian parks.

This is the lovely Conservatory, housing hundreds of plants , some exotic, that need warmth and light, it is so peaceful to wonder amongst the plants and marvel at the fantastic colours.
Just look at the vibrant red in this photo, makes your heart sing

Inside the conservatory the decking holds lots of pots of different flowering plants all year round, a lot of people don't go to the park, but it is well worth a visit to see all this beauty.
The pretty tinkling sound of water, the fish are hiding from the camera.

Meanwhilke out in the spring sunshine overlooking the bowling green stands this fine statue of W G Grace, overlooking the bowling green.
A rest watching the bowling is nice on a sunny afternoon in summer, ice cream and tea nearby.

One of the lovely White bridges that adorn the river Sow, so graceful, lots of people do sit here and bring their children to feed the ducks, or do so on their own, these ducks were having a leisurely rest by the water.
This shelter is dedicated to Alderman Mottram.

Our Bandstand in the park, often used by brass bands in the summer, but in my view vastly underused, it could be used for local bands / groups, plays, local art exhibitors from the college. Wouldnt it be nice if the park was patrolled for safety so visitors could come and enjoy it, but also for much more fun and entertainment. Why is it not used for more recreational activities, especially on a sunday, we could have art for sale from local art groups,  bedecking the railings, craft stalls once a month, we need to use this beautiful Park, for everyone to relax and feel safe in. That was its original purpose after all.
Just look at the blossom on these trees, it was starting to blow from the tree a little as I took the photo.
This splendid Magnolia just about to burst into full bloom was enchanting with its pink and white waxy flowers, how pretty it looks, with the sky as its backdrop, I took the photo looking upwards through the branches.

This is the final view, the island in the centre will be full of life and greenery by summer, from this view you can see clear across this duck pond to the glass house and then in the distance the Church of St Marys. I hope if you look at this you enjoy our town parks views, and go and enjoy it yourselves.
